Following a dinner at noon, M. W. Brother Robert V. Pinkston, Grand Master [from L to R #4] opened the Grand Lodge and Strict Observance Lodge, # 73 simultaneously at 1:30 P.M. in the Masonic Temple. Both Lodges were then called to refreshment and proceeded to Carolina Memorial Gardens for the public ceremony.

M. W. Brother G. Ray Marsh, Grand Secretary {#2} presented a brief historical sketch of M. W. Brother Joel W. Frampton, Jr.'s Masonic Achievements. At the direction of the Grand Master, R. W. Brother D. Samuel Tennyson, Deputy Grand Master [#1] stepped forward with a cornucopia and taking corn from it spread it over the gravemarker [see pic below]. R. W. Brother Barry A. Rickman, Senior Grand Warden [#5} then poured wine over it, and finally R. W. Brother Gilbert L. Martin, Junior Grand Warden [#6} poured oil over the marker. The graveside ceremony concluded with prayer offered by M. W. Brother Jesse C. Branham, Past Grand Master, Grand Chaplain Pro Tempore [#3} .

M.W. Brother Joel was a great inspiration to us and an exemplary man and Mason. He is greatly missed, but his spirit lives on in the lives ot those of us who were fortunate enough to know and "work" with him. He encouraged and inspired me to play the pipe organ for our Lodge meetings.
