A vegan diet is a strict vegetarian diet, that is no milk or eggs as in the less strict lacto-ovo vegetarians. It is not really intended specifically as a weight loss diet, although vegans are seldom obese. As a weight loss diet, a strict vegan diet would probably be very hard to stick to, although it wouldn't hurt most of us to eat less meat.
